Training and Support for Direct Instruction Success
High-quality training and ongoing support are essential for your students to succeed with Direct Instruction. While EAP does not offer training, we highly recommend partnering with the National Institute for Direct Instruction (NIFDI), founded by DI creator Siegfried “Zig” Engelmann.
NIFDI offers expert training for teachers, coaches, and school leaders to ensure effective DI implementation. Their offerings include:
- Teacher Training: Intensive, multi-day sessions focused on delivery and correction skills.
- Coach Training: Programs on observation, data collection, problem-solving, and prioritizing instructional needs.
- School Leader Training: Institutes on setting up DI implementation and ongoing coaching support.
NIFDI provides in-person (most effective) and remote training, with customizable options for elementary, middle, and high schools. They also offer assessments to evaluate ongoing DI implementation.

Training Options:
- In-person Training: 12 hours for up to 25 instructors
- Virtual Training: Available for up to 12 participants

- Pre-Service (On-Site): $4,225** for 2 days (minimum $42,225 purchase)
- Pre-Service (Remote): $2,552.50 for 2 days (minimum $25,520 purchase)
- 2-Day Coaching Visit: $3,975** (minimum $39,750 purchase)
- Virtual Coaching: $165/hour (minimum $1,650 purchase)
*You can use your credit combined with additional staff development funds to purchase the services of your choice.
